Salamander of St Germans Parish Church, Norfolk

DSC_0837

Found this little fellow, with many others in St Germans Parish Church, so I thought as part of my learning curve I would investigate him.  In ancient mythology, Salamanders were fireproof and could extinguish fire, therefore they could resist the fiery temptation of sin.  I think they are quite a good creature to carve on a pew, for a church with a large wooden roof.

    1. Hi, many thanks for dropping by, the church is St Germain’s Church in Wiggenhall St Germans, the other side of Kings Lynn next to one of the rivers, a very pretty little village, not far from where we live.
