St George of Rattlesden Church in Suffolk

Scroll down to content

I have been away for a few days exploring some of the beautiful churches of Suffolk, even the smallest villages seem to be endowed with awe inspiring churches. I can only put this down to the wool trade in the 15th century when there was plenty of money to help with the rebuilding of these churches.

In the beautiful Church of St Nicholas in Rattlesden filled with Suffolk treasures we find this delightful War Memorial window of St George flanked by the sacrifice of Isaac, David and Goliath, dated 1920.  To me he is the archetype of St George.
