Christmas in St Mary’s Church, Burnham Westgate, Norfolk

There are still some days left of Christmas, for me to finish my Christmas Churches.  Yesterday, I did go out with the intention of exploring Round Tower Churches….but other churches got in the way, like they do, like this little church, not spectacular, but a very calming space.

This small calming church is St Mary’s Church in Burnham Westgate, which is at one end of Burnham Market.  I was going to take some photos of Burnham Market……but it is a lovely Norfolk village that has been discovered and now is just full of cars and bodies everywhere.  I will wait until it gets really cold and then return and hopefully get so car free photos.  But for now, here is the church in festive spirit, the full church will follow later.

    1. In way your are right, looking through the window is the graveyard but the houses are in Burnham Market. Its not the most impressive display, but sometimes simple is better and its such a lovely quiet space 🙂

  1. Yes, I find some of my most favorite churches have been quite simple . I think when it comes to sort of classifying churches , there are some in which the place they are located makes them wonderful and the church itself just ordinary, others can be sited in not so extraordinary a place but are treasures within themselves, some have such atmosphere that that is what draws you ~ some which are quite simple can be the most memorable and lovely ~ at least , that is what I have found.

    1. I agree with you wholeheartedly, I just cannot past a church not matter even if its not all that wonderful outside just incase there is treasure inside and I can normally find some little treasure 🙂

  2. Lovely photos again, Lynne! Like your previous commenter, I love the clear window where you can see the village outside. Stunning reds and greens. And I like the black-and-white photo (is that your own effect or an old postcard?) with the font arrangement – lovely!

    1. Thanks Jo, re-photo thats my effect, the photo with sun coming through the window was very orange, but I liked the arrangement,so I did a b & w effect, so I could save it, so glad you like it 🙂
