Romantic Road to the Isles – Scotland

Scroll down to content

To travel from Fort William to Mallaig along the ‘Romantic Road to the Isles’ is a must if you are on the West Coast of Scotland.  Even better if you can follow the train that travels on the West Highland Railway Line, but if you want to travel on the train, you need to book about a year in advance, we have managed the trip once.  But I actually like to watch the train, although on this trip in 2013, we were going to Mallaig to catch the ferry to Skye, I know you can drive to Skye now, but is so much more fun to go on a ferry.  These are just a few photos taken from the car window and it is a truly romantic road.

  1. Love that road! It seems to go on forever, which is not great if you’re late for the ferry, but beautiful at all other times! Yes, ferries are better than the bridge, any day!
