Bowmore Distillery, Isle of Islay, Scotland

Carrying on with our whisky tour, we made our way to the south eastern shore of Loch Indaal on the Isle of Islay, in May 2016, to the Bowmore Distillery.  Bowmore is the oldest distillery in Scotland, and established in 1779.  There is a very nice tasting area, with wonderful views over Loch Indaal, which you can gaze at, while tasting your whisky.

  1. In the last photo, what is in the neat containers.. whiskey? You’ll have to excuse my ignorance on the whiskey, I dont do much with alcoholic beverages, just for cooking or baking.

    1. They are tin containers for the whisky bottles, they stopped making the tins now, so I should think if anyone has one with the whisky bottles still in them, they would be worth some money 🙂 We do not have any, unfortunately lol 🙂

  2. I wonder if I could come back as an Angel on Islay. The ‘Angel’s Share’ from that island would keep a few Angels well supplied with malt. I have one of those tins, oops, looks like the Angels have been at it 🙂
