In 2016 we had a long week-end in Lincolnshire, and I’ve come across a few photos of churches that I haven’t posted, so I have a feeling a few Lincolnshire churches will be posted quite soon, before they get too out of date. Unfortunately the church of St Nicholas in Addlethrope was closed, it was late in day. Reading up on the church, I will have to return, as they have an angel roof, also the church is grade 1 listed, and there is plenty to see.
Some info……Dedicated to St. Nicholas, the church is a splendid example of medieval architecture in the Perpendicular style, being built between 1360 and 1420 and Grade 1 listed. The interior retains much of its original woodwork and fittings including the “Angel Roof”.
These photographs are turkey beautiful and so very artistic 💒
Thank you Hannah, glad you like them 🙂
That is a very interesting church. That angel on the corner is carrying a very heavy load. Don’t think I’ve seen anything quite like that before. Can’t wait to see the inside! 🙂
Yes it was a shame it was locked, but hopefully in the spring I will get to go back 🙂
That gargoyle with the pipe could be an anti-smoking ad.
Ha ha, you got a point there 🙂
What a lovely church with a old graveyard…. they never get old or tiresome to look at.
It was a lovely church, just a shame it was so late and the door was locked 🙂
I like your black and white photos!
Thank you, I like changing them to black & white 🙂
Visited this weekend, when a flag was flying on the tower and the bells were ringing so knew it would be open – there was a festival going on. The church is magnificent, all the woodwork inside is original and dates from the 1400s.
Thank you for letting me know, I will have to go back and have a look, it sounds lovely 🙂
