The Turrets of Thun Castle, Thun, Switzerland (Road Trip 17)

Scroll down to content

When you reach the top of Thun Castle and look out of the turret windows you are treated to some spectacular views, especially if the weather is perfect.  When we visited Thun in Switzerland, Sept 2018, the weather was, but all was not perfect in the early years of the castle, and right up until the 19th century…….the turrets were prison cells.

The above turret room is where you can find the graffiti that the prisoners made.  The room had a sad feeling, so I took my photos and left to explore the floor above, the very top of the castle.  After exploring the roof, we left the castle and decided to find a restaurant by the lake…..more to follow.

Some views that I took from the turret windows.

  1. I can’t imagine what it would have been like to be imprisoned in those years.! The views are beautiful from the window, and the old door is impressive!
