Continuing with our trip to Lake Orta, Italy in September 2018. After our visit to the Island of San Giulio, we returned to the mainland and wandered around the medieval town of Orta San Giulio. The little town reminds me of Venice, narrow cobbled streets, leading to small squares and then arriving at Piazza Motta, the main square which over looks the lake and the small beautiful Island of San Giulio There are lots of small shops and little cafes, plus the churches I have posted about, a couple more to come, every corner turned, was a photo shot. Next post is another beautiful church in the town.
Just incase you want to visit……Orta San Giulio is a town and comune in the Province of Novara in the Italian region of Piedmont, located about 100 kilometres northeast of Turin and about 40 kilometres northwest of Novara. Also the statue in the grounds of a Villa, of an artist, is Carl-Heinz Schroth (29 June 1902 – 19 July 1989) who was a German actor and film director. He appeared in 60 films between 1931 and 1989 and also directed seven films between 1953 and 1963.
