Back Streets of Venice, Italy

Sorting through some photos, I came across some Venice 2106 photos, that I had for some reason not use, mostly likely because I took way too many.  So I thought I would change these to mono and see how they looked.  I like photos that have that timeless feel to them, which you can achieve by changing them to black & white.  Hopefully some of these have that feel, anyway it was fun to do and I hate wasting photos 🙂

Cruise Reflections

Once we had docked in Tórshavn, capital of the Faroe Islands, and had breakfast, we had to wait for our trip out for the day.  I got a little bored, as I wanted to be out and about, and then I saw a refection on the other side of the ship from the window I was looking through.  I took a few shots and played around with them, well it kept me happy for a little while.

Iceland Cruise 5 – Cheese, Clogs and Volendam, The Netherlands

After our trip to visit the historic windmills in Zaanse Schans, we were taken to see a cheese farm, where clogs are also made.  I must admit it was not something we would have chosen to do on our own, but we were on a coach and had to tag along.  The coach was late in arriving, as we had been late leaving the ship and also the windmills, due to a couple who it would seem, did not own a watch between the two of them.  One thing we had drummed into us on the ship, was to be back to coaches on time, as they had very tight schedules to keep.  So now, we were 30 minutes late for the next visit, which was the trip to Volendam.  This along with the windmills was the reason we had picked this trip.  After listening to how to make cheese and clogs, we made our way to Volendam.  After parking the coach we were walked through the back streets of this lovely fishing village and then straight away we were leaving again……our stay had turned into, I kid you not, 2 minutes, all because this couple could not keep to the time…… I was not a happy bunny.  I managed to grab a few photos as we were hustled along and thought, oh, I hope this is not a sign of things to come, but I must say now, the rest of our coach visits were perfect.  So here are a few photos of cheese, clogs and a brief glimpse of a fishing village, Volendam on the shores of Markermeer Lake in North Holland.

Next post will be ‘On the way to the Faroe Islands’

Last year we had to have some trees felled, unfortunately due to age they had became too tall and they had become a little dangerous in high winds.  The above tree had actually been struck by lightening and was dangerous to the other trees surrounding it, but it has and will keep our wood burning stove going for quite a long time.  It was also quite interesting to watch. how they climbed the very tall trees, not something you see everyday.

I think they are candidates for my ‘Occupation Category’

The Dogs of Shuttleworth Bedfordshire

Last year 2017, we visited Suttleworth in Bedfordshire to see an air show.  While we were waiting to see the vintage planes, I took photos of the canine visitors.

The Shuttleworth Collection is an aeronautical and automotive museum located at the Old Warden Aerodrome, Old Warden in Bedfordshire, England.  It is one of the most prestigious in the world due to the variety of old and well-preserved aircraft.
