I came across this group of angel headstones while sorting through church photos and thought how good they looked grouped together. I’m not sure if they are the same family, it is possible they are, as the gravestones seem the same. I found them in St Andrew’s Churchyard in Great Dunham, Suffolk, a church I have yet to post, but I’m working on it.
That is an interesting grouping. Nice photo! 🙂
Thank you Pat 🙂
Magnificent! Thanks for sharing, Lynne!
Thank you Marcus 🙂
There’s two stone that are in 1813 (I think if I’m seeing right) and they are close together….. there’s a sad story here I believe…
I think you could be right, I should have looked closer, maybe when I am passing again.
I was wondering the same thing as Deb. Just the fact that the stones are so close together makes me think those are small graves. Life was hard back then.
Yes I think they are the same family, there would have been cholera about that time. One off my GGG grandmothers who lived to be 103, was a cholera nurse, she lost 5 children and a husband, we think to cholera, she survived, and then nursed others. Indeed life was hard then.
This is very interesting post! Thanks!
Thank you glad you enjoyed it 🙂
